Whitstone is a rare survival of a simple, unspoilt cob and stone Cornish cottage with a part-thatched part-slate roof. Original features have been preserved inside, including slate flooring and an attractive open-beamed landing, and outside there is a secluded, enclosed sun-trap of a garden and a range of historic outbuildings.

There is plenty to explore nearby, the bustling market towns of Helston and harbour town of Porthleven offering eateries and award wining fishmongers on the quayside are just under a mile away.

The network of footpaths leading around Loe Pool, the largest freshwater lake in Cornwall and into the Penrose estate with its rich mix of farmland and woodland are just on your doorstep.

Just a few hundred metres away we have two other cottages on the Penrose Estate, The Stables

Helston Lodge. Through the woodland and overlooking the sea is Bar Lodge.

If you would like to go on holiday and explore this part of the country you can find out more about our other West Cornwall holiday cottages here.

Best equipped NT cottage we have ever stayed!

Great work - very lucky with the weather. Very dog friendly area with many cafes etc and beaches allowing dogs. Plenty of guidance in the welcome pack plus many signs in café, pubs and shop windows. We had 2 excellent meals at Halzaphom Inn. Best equipped NT cottage we have ever stayed. Walks on the estate are great. Cycling in the area is good.

    Hope to visit again soon

Beautifully restored cottage and a great holiday retreat. From Whitstone cottage we walked to the sea around Loe Bar - which was stunning. Thank you for the attention to detail catering for our needs. I loved the roses for my 50th birthday - a very special personal touch. We hope to visit again soon.

    Good sized cottage

Ideal location for exploring Penrose Estate with dogs ending in a long run on Loe Bar. Really handy for Porthleven - pubs, shops and restaurants. Good size cottage for 2 to 4 with dogs.

    Warm and welcoming

Whitstone is as warm, welcoming, well appointed and spotlessly clean as we remember. Credit to Kim the caretaker. Great to see the ongoing development of paths and trails both on the estate and to Porthleven. Sure to be back! Thank you. (As a chef couldn't bring myself to use MY knife on glass chopping board, understand they are hygienic but.......)
