An elegant 17th century house built from local Ham Hill stone that overlooks the most delightful formal garden. Visitors will not only feel like the lord and lady of the manor, they can also enjoy spectacular views out over the network of garden rooms and explore its glories ‘out of hours’. Part of the house has been used to create a four bedroom holiday property which retains much of its original features, such as leaded windows. You can explore the rest of the house during the opening hours. The kitchen is dominated by a huge Aga and an open fire is the centre piece of the sitting room.

Tintinhull Gardens is available as a venue for civil wedding ceremonies. They offer a picturesque setting alongside the intimate Summer House which overlooks the peaceful Pool garden.

South West England

The South West region is probably England's most well-known holiday hotspot, being home to some of the most famous seaside resorts. Pretty villages and harbours in Cornwall, many with sweeping sandy beaches, such as St Ives, Polzeath and Port Isaac to name but a few, give way to sophisticated seaside resorts in Devon and Dorset which include Bournemouth, Torquay and Ilfracombe. The history of this region is unrivalled; Wiltshire's spectacular downland and the stone circles at Avebury and Stonehenge, through Hardy's Dorset, dramatic Dartmoor and gentler Exmoor, to the mining landscapes of Cornwall and West Devon, which are now recognised as being of international significance, having been awarded World Heritage Site status in 2006. The Trust protects 370 miles of the coastline in Devon and Cornwall and, wherever you are in the two far western counties, you're never more than 25 miles from the sea. As well as this peninsula, the Trust also cares for much of the countryside in Gloucestershire, Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset and a wide array of fascinating properties to visit and explore. Not surprisingly, perhaps, this area is also home to the widest selection of National Trust holiday cottages.

    Grand place to stay!

This is a really grand place to stay - it certainly does provide the 'manor house' experience. It was huge, spotless and comfortable and the garden is superb. All the NT staff and volunteer gardeners we spoke to were very helpful and friendly. We particularly loved the big kitchen and the beautiful garden - but then also the massive double bedrooms with the magnificent views.

    Wonderful house

It was lovely to receive the welcome tray - made me feel very at home I live in a tiny house and as it was a special birthday I hired the house so all my friends coiuld visit and those from away could stay if they wished - most didn't, The next day all my family came and again the extra space made it possible. Everyone said what a great idea it was. The other days I stayed there alone and enjoyed living at a wonderful house - thank you

    Special atmosphere

Tintinhull House and garden have a special atmosphere which generate a feeling of well-being and tranquillity. The obvious care taken by the caretakers to present the house well contribute to this. We intended during our stay to make several excursions, however, we were so happy with the accommodation we tended to spend more time at "home"!! We haven't lived in the UK for over 15 years, with few visits in between, so it was a great experience for us at Tintinhull enabling us to enjoy England again at its best!! Thank you.

It is a amazing house with a lot of history

It is a amazing house with a lot of history. We have a wonderful time there even in January 2008. The house is big enough for a family reunion and the kids enjoy running around in the garden. The housekeeper and gardeners have done a marvelous job in maintaining this house. We look forward to another family holiday with the National Trust Property
