Pull the curtains back, open the window, listen to the evocative sound of the gulls, breathe in that distinctive smell of the sea and the sounds of a fishing village coming to life....right in the heart of Boscastle, The Lugger offers that special experience of waking up in the middle of a Cornish seaside village. Within a building that was once a pilchard cellar, and named after a traditional type of fishing boat, The Lugger is just a short step away from the historic harbour and the bustle of the quayside yet, being on the second floor, makes it just that little bit secluded and a peaceful retreat. There are lovely views over the rooftops and down to the harbour in one direction and up to the village in the other. In the same building as The Lugger is the visitor centre and our other holiday cottages. The Clinker and The Gaffer and across the river you'll find Harbour View.

Boscastle is one of the most beautiful and unspoilt villages in Cornwall and its situation is breathtaking. The Elizabethan quay sits in an impressive amphitheatre of steep cliffs and is home to quaint stone-built cottages, shops and tearooms. With coastal walks on your doorstep, venture onto the cliffs of Penally Point, which guard the harbour entrance, while nearby walks around Forrabury Stitches offer a rare glimpse at a surviving farmed landscape showing ancient Celtic strip fields. Wander further afield along the footpaths that wind through the lovely wooded Valency Valley, rich with Thomas Hardy connections. At low tide there is a sandy beach at Trebarwith Strand just 5 miles to the South West.

    Beautifully furnished cottage

The arrangements and directions were spot on - we arrived in the dark and I was a wee bit concerned but it was all made so easy. The cottage was furnished beautifully and the kitchen was the best equipped we have stayed in. Everything was clean and the welcome note and flowers set the tone for our entire stay.

    Welcoming cottage

The cottage was very welcoming when we arrived. Fresh flowers, a welcome tray and milk in the fridge. It was clean and smelt nice which is just what you want after arriving from a long drive.
