The Farmhouse is a sixteenth-century reed thatched farmhouse, probably built originally as a longhouse. There are two inglenook fireplaces and a downstairs cloakroom has been converted for use by disabled visitors, with adapted shower and lavatory with grab rails.
The Farmhouse has the advantage of a close-by Hide, overlooking the RSPB Arne Reserve and Poole Harbour. This is an unusual and special landscape where a vast expanse of open heath land and old oak woodland can be enjoyed. Arne is a fantastic place for walks at any time of year.
Stroll down the gravel path which runs along the side of The Bakehouse and you will reach the Middlebere Farm Hide, this provides the best vantage point to overlook the upper reaches of Middlebere Lake. At low tide numerous waders, ducks and geese forage on the mud flats exposed and at high tide many take to the shallow waters edge and wait for the turning point when the mud is exposed again. The hide also overlooks an extensive area of reed bed.
In the winter it is an ideal spot to see Hen Harrier and Marsh Harrier . During spring and autumn migration Osprey are the attraction. In summer look out for Dartford warblers nesting in the heather, nightjars flying at dusk and as many as 22 species of colorful dragonflies

The Isle of Purbeck is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to the west of Bournemouth. It is characterised by stone villages, heath and farmland, criss-crossed with minor roads and tracks and dominated by the impressive and dramatic ruins of Corfe Castle. One of our cottages stands below the huge ramparts of the castle, whilst others are on the edge of miles of heathland or close to the Arne Bird Sanctuary. Studland Beach, near Swanage, is a three mile stretch of glorious sandy beach, part of which is designated as a naturist area and behind which is a National Nature Reserve. One of our holiday homes has views across Studland Bay whilst the other two are outside the village with views to Swanage Bay.
National Trust places nearby include Corfe Castle, Brownsea Island, Clouds Hill, Studland Beach. Beaches are at Studland and Swanage. and other attractions in the area include the South West Coast Path, Swanage steam railway, Corfe Castle Model Village and Gardens and The Ginger Pop Shop, Blue Pool and Poole Harbour. There are lots of activities to enjoy including walking, birdwatching, fishing, watersports, horse riding and golf.
