About Silverthwaite

This grand five-bedroom house was built by suffragist Amy Sharp, in the early 1900s. You’ll see why she chose this spot overlooking the Langdale Valley, it’s truly inspiring. Much of its Arts and Crafts influence remains inside from the period fireplaces and the wooden floorboards to antique furnishings and floral detailing throughout.

Set in woodland, rich in flora with interlinking paths, this is a stay for exciting Lake District adventures. Head towards Skelwith Bridge and discover mesmerizing waterfalls, Skelwith Force and Colwith Force that tumble into the River Brathay. Longer walks could take you to the iconic Tarn Hows, Langdale Pikes or Grasmere. If you like heading out on two-wheels there are many cycle routes in the area, the cottage is well equipped with lockable bike storage.

Further afield in the Lake District, you’ll be less than a 10 minute drive to the northern shores of Lake Windermere. Head to Low Wray where you can hire a canoe or kayak. Or chill out in Ambleside, on the northern tip of the Lake, for its shops, Roman fort and Stagshaw Gardens.
