It's hard to believe this special place of rolling green countryside and white chalky coastland is only half an hour away from the English mainland; time spent here feels nothing like the frantic pace of daily life. And thanks to low light pollution, it's one of the best spots in the South to see the stars flash across the dark sky at night – so remember to pack a flask!

    Made enjoyable...

The intrinsic qualities of Knowles Farm, both internally and externally are somehow retained by careful stewardship. Please do not spoil these qualities by any future modernising! The attention paid by Lesley as housekeeper is of the highest standard and always very much appreciated. It is a gem.

    First class!

The whole experience from booking right through to the standard of the cottage was first class. Lesley's preparation was outstanding. A mixture of location, standard of comfort and peacefulness.

    Charming cottage

We were very happy with the cleanliness of the cottage and the way it had been left ready for us with tea things, milk and flowers. It was charming. My husband is a very keen amateur radio enthusiast and was thrilled the cottage had been used by Marconi.

    Beautiful and unspoilt

Very nicely presented cottage. It feels a privilege to stay in such a beautiful and unspoilt place, and one where you can even see the Milky Way in the night sky.
