This deceptively spacious little cottage was once home to Granny Whetter, matriarch of the local farming family. It is a charming building, with the bedroom taking up the whole of the first floor and gardens to the side and front. Snug and cosy, this is a perfect base for exploring the coast in all weathers.

Nearby you’ll find two of our other holiday cottages, Edgcumbe and Bodrugan.

The bathing beaches of Vault and Hemmick are nearby as it the unspoilt coastal village of Gorran Haven. A cluster of fisherman’s cottages nestling around a secluded cove. Take a walk from the cottage along the footpath to Dodman Point and enjoy the spectacular views. A haven for walkers, bird-watchers and budding archaeologists alike, the Dodman offers space from the hustle and bustle and a chance to get back to nature.

    Cosy, clean cottage

Granny's was a lovely cottage which was very cosy and clean. There was plenty of good quality equipment eg in the kitchen. We also liked the welcoming pack of tea /coffee and biscuits, plus all the lovely vases of flowers. That was a very nice touch! It was good to have car parking as well. We enjoyed lots of coastal walking, because the cottage was situated in such an excellent spot where we could walk from the door and did not need our car every day. It was very peaceful and relaxing. We have used other companies before, when hiring cottages in the Lakes and Yorkshire, but Granny's was probably the best cottage we have ever stayed in.

    Excellent standard cottage

I thought the standard of the cottage was excellent in every way. Terrific location, excellent kitchen and bathroom fittings, spotlessly clean and in the perfect spot for walking on the coastal path.

    Made enjoyable...

Granny's cottage most cosy - welcome tea tray. The peace and quiet - the walks overlooking the beach with no cars around and of course, the lovely NT houses. (Lanhydrock, Trerice, Trelissick)

    Well maintained

We loved Granny's cottage it was so well maintained and felt very cosy . As we were in a very remote area we had no signal on our mobile phones and no wifi and so it did occur to us if we needed to contact emergency services we would have struggled.

    Gorgeous cottage

Everything was perfect. We could other fault a single thing. It is the most perfect place to switch off and relax. The walk was stunning and the views were breathtaking. The cottage itself was simply gorgeous. The log fire, the bedroom, the views, the birds! Perfect.

    What a privilege

We really couldn't have chosen a more lovely cottage and location. Inside there was everything we needed (and more - the dishwasher was a welcome surprise, as we didn't have time to find out anything about the cottage, other than where it was!). Outside, being able to walk in all directions in such beautiful surroundings has been bliss. Glancing back through the visitors books, it's wonderful to see how much this little cottage has been appreciated over the past 35 years or more. What a privilege to have been two more happy residents at 'Granny's'. Highlights of our stay have been the coastal walks, as well as a cross country walk to Mevagissey, the 'Sunday @ 11' service at St. Fimbarrus' Church in Fowey (great Bible teaching and a growing congregation of all ages) and the walled kitchen garden at Helligan. Also, just sitting outside the front door, reading in the late afternoon sun. And watching a barn owl hunting low over the fields for food for its owlets at the farm.
