Edgcumbe and neighbouring Bodrugan are traditional stone barns on the edge of the old farming hamlet of Penare, now converted into spacious and comfortable accommodation. Both have their living room on the first floor to make the most of the views over the countryside, and both have enclosed gardens. Just a short walk down the hill is Granny's, a cosy cottage ideal for two.

The beautiful bathing beaches of Vault and Hemmick are close by, as is Gorran Haven an unspoilt fishing village nestling around a cluster of fisherman cottages and a secluded cove.

Take a walk from the cottage along the footpath to Dodman Point, the highest point in south Cornwall and enjoy the spectacular views.A haven for walkers, bird-watchers and budding archaeologists alike, the Dodman offers space from the hustle and bustle and a chance to get back to nature.

    Comfortable cottage

Comfortable cottage with all amenities within walking distance of coast. We have never yet been disappointed by the accommodation provided by NT, and have always enjoyed the locations selected, usually at short notice. Now in our retirement we hope to take full advantage of the time we have to explore other areas of our lovely countryside and in NT properties because so far we have found the locations to be in areas of outstanding beauty.

    Beautiful cottage

I feel that you can guarantee a certain level of quality with a national trust cottage and this was certainly the case. The cottage was beautiful and in fantastic surroundings, exactly as described on the website. I do find national trust cottages a little bit more expensive than others but this doesn't necessarily matter as I value being able to support such an excellent cause whilst having a holiday! This cottage was particularly handy as I could take my dog with me, which I feel is increasingly important - more and more people seem to have dogs these days and it becomes expensive if you have to pay for them to stay elsewhere as well. It was also an area ideal for dog walking!

    Warm, cosy cottage

It was very good to have a warm, cosy cottage to return to after the soaking we got on our walks with our dog. It was also a huge help to have an enclosed garden for him to run around in.
