East Anglia
A beautiful day at Kings Marsh, at Orford Ness. A former salt-marsh, it is now enclosed by river walls and provides habitat for both waders and wildfowl. © Joe Cornish

The ancient kingdom of East Anglia has preserved much of its unspoilt character, rural landscape, architecture and traditions with attractions ranging from the University city of Cambridge and the Cathedral city of Ely, to glorious, often deserted, sandy beaches, lots of seaside fun, outdoor pursuits and the unspoilt waterways of The Broads. National Trust places in East Anglia are equally varied, ranging from the magnificent Blickling Hall in Norfolk, the impressive rotunda at Ickworth, near Bury St. Edmunds, the elegant Anglesey Abbey, to the dramatic coastline at Dunwich Heath, with its neighbouring RSPB sanctuary and the Anglo-Saxon royal burial site at Sutton Hoo.

Cromer cottage is a special unique cottage, it as everything you need for a excellent stay, it's very clean & very cosy. Exellent cottage, it's a credit to the national trust.. We was at the cottage for valentines week, it's such a special romantic, quaint cottage, loved spending quality time with my husband in it. So different from the rat race of life...

    Quirky cottage - exceeded expectations!

A really quirky cottage which exceeded our expectations on arrival. Everything about the cottage was of a very high standard - immaculately clean and flowers and biscuits were a really nice touch. The short break was booked as a surprise for my husband's birthday and I wanted something out of the ordinary. The outside of the cottage was so unusual! We were delighted.
