1 Compton Farm Cottages is a 19th-century semi-detached farm worker's cottage, constructed of stone, with a tile roof which was formerly thatched. One of a pair, these cottages are situated under the south side of the down and within easy walking distance from the sea at Compton Bay. There are wonderful walks in all directions from the front door. The cottages are simple in layout and ideal for a seaside holiday.

Parking: For one car at the front of the cottage. There is also a National Trust car park adjacent to the cottage.
Garden: The garden surrounding the cottages is shared. There is a small seating area at the front of the cottage.

Utilities/Electricals: The washing machine and tumble dryer are a combined washer/dryer.
Television: Television and DVD player are provided but there is no TV reception. Visitors may wish to bring their own DVDs.

Please note: In these small cottages, the size of the hot water tank is limited. You will need to allow at least half an hour for the water to reheat after a bath or shower. The hot water is set on constant and the temperature is set to the maximum permitted.
Please be aware that cattle sometimes graze in the field adjacent.
It's hard to believe this special place of rolling green countryside and white chalky coastland is only half an hour away from the English mainland; time spent here feels nothing like the frantic pace of daily life. And thanks to low light pollution, it's one of the best spots in the South to see the stars flash across the dark sky at night – so remember to pack a flask!
