Once again we are celebrating our Great British Walk. Throughout the autumn you can find fantastic walks on offer in some of our most beautiful outdoor places. Many of the walks are on the doorstep of our holiday cottages so why not make a weekend of it and discover a new area on foot. You can then return to the cottage for a well earned rest.

From 8th September to 24 October 2014 many of our special places will host a variety of walking events, activities and trails aimed at all ages to entice you into the great outdoors.

The vast majority of our cottages have walks and events within easy reach, below we have highlighted a few to get you started:

Snowdonia

Locate yourself at the heart of Snowdonia in Gwernouau Cottage and be inspired by the stunning mountain views on one of our many walks in this beautiful region.

Northern Ireland

Willow Cottage makes an ideal base for experiencing Crom, the breath-taking 810-hectare (2,000-acre) demesne, set amid the romantic and tranquil landscape of Upper Lough Erne.

Yorkshire North East

Housesteads is located just 50 yards from the ruins of Housesteads Fort and a stunning section of Hadrian’s Wall. There are outstanding views towards the North Pennines and excellent walking.

Whether you are looking to explore autumn colour in wooded parkland, experience a guided walk with one of our rangers, or try wildlife spotting along some of our most dramatic coastline, there is a theme and distance to suit you.

So come and join in from 8th September at https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/activities/walking/ and see below some of our suggested cottages which are in great locations if you wanted to extend your stay.
