A sea view cottage adds an extra sense of dreaminess to your break and a sea view holiday cottages in Cornwall boast some of the best coastal locations in all of the UK.
For many of us, a holiday in Cornwall is a holiday by the sea. The north coast looks out into the Atlantic Ocean and Celtic Sea whilst the south coast, often known as the "Cornish Riviera" offers more secluded bays on the English Channel.
Cornish cottages with a sea view can be found all over the Southwest coast and the Trust have a special selection in Penzance, St. Ives, the Lizard, Port Isaac, and in many more seaside locations.
What better place to rent a cottage with a sea view?
To help choose, we've put together a small collection of Cornwall cottages with sea views or beautiful estuary views. Here are our suggestions:
Doyden Castle, Port Quin, Cornwall - Doyden Castle is the closest thing you can get to living in a castle. Situated high on the cliffs at Port Quin with far-reaching views out across the Atlantic.
Bar Lodge, Penrose, Helston, Cornwall - Perched just above Loe Bar, with far-reaching sea views - from the high cliffs of the Lizard to the south, right around to the Land's End peninsula in the distant west - and with Loe Pool and its woodlands just behind, you are spoilt for scenery.
West House, Looe, Cornwall - This striking and handsome slate-hung farmhouse has been converted into two sizeable cottages, both with far-reaching views over the fields towards the sea, with Dodman Point in the distance. Stunning coastal scenery, Lansallos Cove and the other little beaches on Lantivet Bay are all a short walk away.
Overhaven, Polzeath, Cornwall - Overhaven is a spacious and comfortably furnished cottage in a rural Cornwall setting. Just a 10-minute stroll down the bridleway to Pentireglaze beach or a 5-minute drive to the fabulous surfing beach at Polzeath.
Ruan, Cadgwith, Helston, Cornwall - With views over Cadgwith Cove, that are as mesmerising in the summer as they are spectacular in the winter, Ruan and Inglewidden Vean are two of three adjoining cottages that sit on the cliffs above Cadgwith.
Gwendra Wartha, Truro, Cornwall - Set above an old farming hamlet (‘wartha’ is Cornish for ‘higher’), this cottage has uninterrupted sea views and across Gerrans Bay from all its rooms. This cottage sleeps three with sea views from most rooms.
Count House Cottage Botallack, nr. St. Just Cornwall - This cosy cottage for two sits close to the dramatic cliffs of West Cornwall with amazing views over the turbulent Atlantic Ocean. You can relax in the garden over a drink, protected from the onshore breezes or take up the more exposed position and be rewarded by the spectacular seascape.
Harbour View, Boscastle, Cornwall - In terms of location alone, Harbour View is hard to beat. Standing at the head of the harbour, this fine old Cornish cottage looks down on the historic quayside in one direction and up to the village centre in the other.
Lower Pentire Barn, Helston, Cornwall - With a dreamy position right on the edge of Carminowe Creek, the eastern arm of Loe Pool, Pentire Farm looks out over the still, shimmering water, with the distant rumble of the waves breaking on Loe Bar beyond.
