Poirot investigates at Greenway

Visitors to Greenway were in for a surprise this June, when they found themselves on the edge of a 1930s murder mystery as the house played host to David Suchet’s Hercule Poirot in an adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Dead Man’s Folly.

Greenway’s appearance in the thirteenth and final series of Poirot is particularly fitting, as it is Agatha Christie’s former holiday home and provided the inspiration for the house at the centre of the mystery.  Greenway is also a special place for star David Suchet, who first visited in 1987 as a guest of the Agatha Christie family, and said that ‘having the opportunity to film at Greenway was truly wonderful and a memory I will cherish’.

You can get closer to this beautiful location with a stay in a National Trust Holiday Cottage: we have three lovely cottages at Greenway, where you can relax in the setting of Dead Man’s Folly without losing sleep over whodunit.

Get right to the heart of the story with a stay in The Apartment, which sleeps 10 in comfort and style on the first and second floors of Greenway house itself. Wake to glorious views of the River Dart, meander around the garden, or take a dip in the private open-air pool. This spacious apartment captures Greenway’s 1950s heyday, where you can almost imagine settling down in the drawing room after dinner to hear Agatha read aloud from her latest book, as she often did for her guests.

If you love getting out in the garden, a break in South Lodge at Greenway could be ideal. This former head gardener’s cottage sleeps six and boasts outstanding views of the River Dart. Nestled in Greenway’s romantic woodland garden, South Lodge is the perfect place to relax after exploring the beautiful grounds and countryside of south Devon- you can even bring your dog along.

Escape on a romantic riverside getaway to The Lodge at Greenway. This cosy, one bedroom lodge sits close to the woodland garden and is the ideal spot for exploring the River Dart, with Greenway Quay within easy reach.

Book now for the perfect chance to get a little closer to Greenway’s history and place in the life of one of our most beloved mystery writers, Agatha Christie.
