Holiday cottages from the National Trust are distinctive and unlike any other cottages you will ever find - our havens are perfect for you.

National Trust land is colourful and immersed in beauty and all of our holiday cottages offer something truly unique - breathtaking views, exquisite grounds and historical locations right on your doorstep.

We have an established collection of over 400 captivating cottages in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Every single one of our cottages boasts a charming character and have been lovingly restored to reflect the original feel and our archaic holiday homes are absolutely sublime. These come in all shapes and sizes from honeypot cottages to hunting towers, sleeping 2 - 18 people, and we have an array of alluring properties on farms and hidden away in enchanting little villages.

As every property is on National Trust land, you will enjoy the space to relax in truly unbelievable locations – from looking out over the rugged coastlines of Cornwall and watching deer roam across your front garden in the Peak District, to stepping out of your front door into woodland vistas and immaculate gardens in the Cotswolds.

There’s a sense of occasion when you stay with the Trust. Our getaways transform the traditional trip with a deluxe assortment of properties ranging from gatehouses and farmhouses to lighthouses and castles. Wherever you stay, you can take a deep breath and escape to some of our glorious locations and seriously unwind.

We encourage you to explore the website to see our range of beautiful cottages. Our Holiday Ideas page updates regularly to provide fresh inspiration and our new cottages are always showcased here. If you have a particular place or cottage in mind, then head straight to our cottage search.

Holiday Cottage Inspirations

Inspirational examples of holiday cottage conservation projects include Treleddyd Fawr and Malt House. We will be continuing with this important work throughout the year, and you can find out more about these new cottages and when they are available to book. Catherine Zeta-Jones, along with fellow actor Matthew Rhys gave their support for the National Trust campaign that helped save Llyndy Isaf farm, a 600-acre estate in 2011. Discover Cilgerran Castle, which the Trust acquired in 1938, a 13th century fortress in the heart of Pembrokeshire.

For a holiday cottage by the sea or coastal cottage, you could choose from a wide selection of sea-view cottages in Cornwall or try a Lighthouse Keeper’s Cottage in Devon. Doyden Castle in Cornwall is about as close to a fantasy destination as you could imagine. Or sit on the roof terrace of Moryn and gaze out across the horizon at Porthdinllaen on the Llyn Peninsula, North Wales.

For a cottage away from it all, you can stay in remote locations, like Warcleave Cottage in Devon, tucked away on the edge of woodland with the River Teign flowing at the bottom of the garden. If you happen to stay on a grand estate, you will also have access to the grounds after the visitors have gone.

Want to be King or Queen for a week? A castle cottage may just be the royal escape that you need. How about a cottage in the grounds of Powis Castle or glare upon Sizergh Castle (from a distance) in the Holeslack Farmhouse, Cumbria.

The Tower in Norfolk is very much a ‘mini castle’ complete with a Rapunzel tower and rooftop terrace offering panoramic views of rolling fields and woodlands, stretching across the realm of Norfolk.

Love the GardensStay at the Priest’s House in the gardens of Sissinghurst Castle, believed to be part of the former Elizabethan mansion which made up The Castle, or how about the Choristers' House at Fountains Abbey, standing proudly within an ancient 400-acre deer park.

Our cottages really are truly unique, like The Water Tower in Cornwall is one of a kind and perfect for a romantic getaway. The Mustard Pot in Norfolk comes complete with a stunning octagonal shaped living room!

We are more than just holiday cottages. We genuinely care about you having a wonderful time. Everything you would expect from the National Trust and more, is reflected in our bountiful hospitality service – we are warm and welcoming, considerate and always go the extra mile. We know the details of every single property, as we own them all, and this means we look after you from the moment you book, through to departure.

Still not sure?

We can post you our latest brochure to enjoy in your own time, so please do leave us your details to receive a copy.
