Suffolk holiday cottages bring you closer to the best of Suffolk, encompassing a mix of lovely rural landscapes, long stretches of tremendous beach, quaint seaside towns and little villages perfect for exploring.
Our holiday cottages in Suffolk are dotted across the east coast and a stay in a Trust cottage will allow you to experience the glory of Suffolk. Ideal at any time of the year, our array of cottages means families, friends, couples and even the dog can enjoy a holiday in Suffolk.
Suffolk is home to a variety of special places. The likes of Southwold, Aldeburgh, Woodbridge and Ickworth are highlights and all boast a number of little Suffolk secrets hidden amongst quiet villages and nestled in vast, open countryside. With plenty of places to visit in Suffolk, there will be something to suit all of your holiday needs.
Ickworth, not far from the market town of Bury St Edmunds, begs to be explored, made easy by the extensive trails that wrap around the estate, making the fine gardens, lakes, woodlands and the impressive Georgian Italianate palace at its heart is a joy to behold.
Not far from any of our cottages are the coastal towns of Southwold and Aldeburgh where having fish and chips on the beach is an absolute must!
The Suffolk coast is where some of our most popular cottages live. We have a superb collection of coastal holiday cottages as we know a trip to the seaside is a highlight of any UK holiday. Deben View is a spacious apartment within Tranmer House. It opens out onto an impressive wooden verandah with views out across the heath and woodland of the Sutton Hoo estate and down to boats sailing on the River Deben.
It was the mystical instinct of Tranmer House’s former owner Mrs Pretty that compelled her to investigate the mysterious mounds of Sutton Hoo in the 1930s – the archaeological dig revealed an Anglo-Saxon ship burial bedecked with glittering treasure, the richest ever to be found in Northern Europe!
The dog friendly holiday cottage that is Bridge Farm sits beside a quiet country lane with gently sloping views down across grass meadows towards Dunwich village and the sea. It’s a walkers' paradise and your pooch would love it too! Another highlight is the amazing bird life on the heath and at RSPB Minsmere.
Ickworth is a gem in rural Suffolk. The estate is popular with walkers and nature lovers, making it perfect for a trip out. Gardens House is in an idyllic setting overlooking the lake at the heart of the imposing 1800 acre Ickworth estate. An ideal place to unwind, and what better place to enjoy evening drinks and alfresco meals while overlooking the lake and parkland beyond. You have direct access to the surrounding parkland throughout your stay, whatever the time of day and the estate is ideal for energetic walks.
The Round House boasts a unique aesthetic and equally fascinating history. It has been expertly restored to its original appearance using old photographs; this deceptively spacious house now offers the luxury of modern living tucked away within a wonderfully sheltered setting. The holiday cottage is situated in an enchanting woodland glade not far from the Fairy Lake and this tranquil setting attracts numerous birds and deer.
Further afield in Constable Country is Thorington Hall. The vast seventeenth-century farmhouse with a backdrop of stunning Suffolk countryside timelessly evoked in Constable's landscapes. The large modern rooms retain the grandeur of powerful landowners who once farmed almost 1400 acres surrounding the Hall. If you are looking for a striking house with masses of space, inside and out, for large family holidays or relaxed get-togethers with friends then this is truly it.
The Hall is set within a gated entrance, with private grounds; there is a large rambling garden, which is wild in parts, with a small apple orchard and stables. Thorington Lodge, attached but self-contained, can be let with the Hall if required.
Over the northern border of Suffolk lies Norfolk and we have a charming collection of Norfolk holiday cottages. A short drive from many of our holiday cottages will take you deep into Norfolk where you can continue to explore the beauty of the east coast and delve further into the green spaces of Norfolk’s vast countryside.
