Our holiday cottages meet the needs for an angling getaway, with cottages near wild ocean waters, lakes perfect for catching a variety of species and rivers that are just awaiting for a line to be cast. National Trust holidays cottages are what every angler needs after a sublime day of fishing.

We have holiday cottages dotted up and down the Great British coastline and near some of the UK’s more popular fishing lakes and rivers. Our coastal holiday cottages are perfect for anglers and those looking to spend their holiday fishing by the sea. Whatever your preference, open sea or enclosed bodies of water, a Trust cottage means you will never be far from the action.

The waters of Wales are plentiful and there is a great haul to be had. Wales is home to some of the finest fishing in the UK, with lots of sea fishing and game fishing on offer and both lakes and seas offer a variety of fish such as trout, carp, bass and salmon. South Wales is well-known for its scenic setting and beautiful landscape with the likes of the Gower coast, Pembrokeshire and Cardigan Bay offering vast open ocean views and a great seaside location makes Wales perfect for a spot of sea fishing.

West of Swansea are the White Springs Lakes which boasts a number of species. Nearby is The Old Rectory on the shores of Rhossili, Swansea, which is an ideal base for a weekend or week of angling. Sleeping 7, this holiday cottage is an optimum choice for those seeking some quality fishing time with friends and family. Those wishing for a more peaceful fishing trip may prefer a small cottage. Byre is meters from the sea, the Bosherston lily ponds are full of wildlife, making the Pembrokeshire coast a wise place to enjoy some Welsh angling.

The River Wye in  is critically acclaimed as one of the finest fishing rivers in the UK and is considered one of the best fishing spots for salmon. The River Wye is the fifth-longest river in the UK  and the lower segment of the Wye Valley is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Trust have a characterful collection of holiday cottages right in the heart of heavenly Herefordshire.

We have an array of holiday cottages that are perfectly situated in east Hertfordshire near the River Wye. The grand Cwmmau Farmhouse is a remote holiday cottage and this spacious adobe provides plenty of room to store all your fishing gear. Or for something more on the personal side to enjoy a sole fishing venture, Old MIll Cottage is surrounded by woodland and its quiet location makes it a great place to enjoy wildlife and walks.

Our holiday cottages in Devon are also ideally located for anglers. Devon boasts a number of spectacular fishing locations, notably from its rugged coastline. Devon’s south coast offers some of the best sea fishing in England and the seaside towns house a bountiful supply of equipment and bait. The river Dart is a supreme fishing stretch and Emperor Lakes in south Devon is one of the county’s top spots.

Trust cottages mean you can stay close to these brilliant fisheries and there are no better locations than south Devon and the English Riviera. Cider cottage is peaceful and popular with those who adore the great outdoors and is not far from Emperor Lakes. The English Riviera’s Crockers Cottage is surrounded by undulating farmland and has easy access to the coast and prime fishing locations. What more could you wish for?

Heading into East Anglia, there are plenty more great angling opportunities to be had. Carp, bream and pike are just a number of specimens awaiting to test your angling skills and the Trust have a special selection of holiday cottages to keep you close to all the action. Suffolk and Norfolk are fishing hotspots, with the east coast popular for some late night fishing and the River Wensum flows through Norfolk offering free fishing where accessible. Suffolk Water Park, Ipswich, boasts nine lakes enclosed in a rural setting which is suitable for novices and expert anglers.

Deben View sleeps 4 and it perfect for those seeking a family fishing experience. With easy access to the Suffolk coastline, this holiday cottage acts as a great starting point for exploring what East Anglia has to offer. North Norfolk’s Blakeney Lodge presents a quieter opportunity to relax and enjoy the tranquilities of fishing alone and is ideal for those who love their privacy.

Yorkshire is famous for its glorious countryside and its spectacular coastal areas. The county is home to a number of lakes, as well as the sea and the Dales. The rivers Calder, Aire and Ouse are full of pike, chub and bream, whereas Whitby provides the best of North Sea fishing.

Ravenscar’s Low Peak stands on a remote clifftop with amazing views over Robin Hood’s Bay and not being far from the sea makes it a great choice for some angling in Yorkshire. You could not being close to the coast with a stay in Risemoor. Right by the shore of Embleton Bay, the Yorkshire coast is a top place to take the family for a fishing trip away.
